Cala Galdana is the quintessential beach resort on the south coast of Menorca. Despite that, it is a spectacular beach shared with all southern beaches white sand and clear waters. The length of the beach is over 400 meters, and as you can see in the pictures, it is a beach with a huge bathroom area.
The natural outlet of the ravine Algendar on the beach has become over time a port of shallow-draft vessels, in what is known as the river of Cala Galdana. If it were not for the amount of constructions and people in Galdana, this beach would be the best in Menorca, but I do not like to be quiet because it costs any summer day.
How to get
From Ciutadella, take the main road to Mahon and take the detour before reaching Ferreries. From Maó must go to Ciutadella and take the detour after passing Ferreries. In both cases, Cala Galdana is well indicated and is very hard to miss.
Cala Galdana is made for mass enjoyment of tourists and families, and it can perform all activities you can think of. You can rent motor boats for hours, you can rent kayaks to visit the southern beaches, and there are restaurants and bars everywhere. Chairing the views, the monstrous Sol Gavilanes.
I do not recommend this beach if you are looking for quiet and unspoiled landscapes, because Galdana is exploited to the maximum. Despite this, it is a very good option for families and for another visit someday, when you do not want to walk 1 hour to get to a nice beach.
From Cala Galdana can start the section 13 or 14 of Camí de Cavalls … I personally prefer the section 13 as it takes you to the magnificent Cala Turqueta.
